Expertise

Anne Chen, AIA, LEED AP is an experienced architect and project executive/ manager. A former Design Principal/ Partner with GBBN Architecture and Owner/ President of EDGE studio, she left the practice to launch her own consultancy committed to helping business owners and organizations plan and manage their capital projects through the full project life cycle. This includes utilizing the project to improve upon operations and organizational strategies as a part of the enhancement process. In her 20 years plus working on complex development projects, Anne has honed a skill for effective communication, creative problem solving and successful project delivery.

Anne has helped many organizations optimize their services and operations through the alignment of their space with their mission and values. Anne’s experience includes collaboration with Owners, Consulting Designers/ Engineers and Construction Managers on multimillion-dollar capital projects. Her work encompasses new building, addition, renovation, adaptive reuse and historic structures that have been recognized for their value to their users and community. Anne brings her expertise in sustainable design to the Owner’s team to help ensure that strategies that support human well-being and reduce energy consumption are maximized.

Anne received her Masters in Architecture from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Princeton University. She earned a certificate in Real Estate Investment and Development from Rice University, Jones School of Business.

Anne serves on the board of AIA Pennsylvania and on the advisory boards of the Carnegie Museum of Art and the Stuckeman School at Penn State University. She is also a member of the Contextual Design Advisory Panel of Pittsburgh’s Department of City Planning. She has published writing in Architect Magazine and Tradeline, Inc; spoken at conferences with the American Library Association and the Society for College and University Planning and was a featured speaker at Mercyhurst College and Norwich University. Teaching includes studio classes at Carnegie Mellon’s School of Architecture and as a guest presenter at CMU’s Heinz College of Public Policy and Information Systems and Tepper School of Business.
